Keiichi finds himself surrounded by a group of Belldandy
impersonators; all claiming to be her, although aside
from the hair and outfit, they look nothing like her.
Keiichi runs away in terror, making his way to a room,
and slamming the door shut behind him to keep the various
fake Goddesses out. As he stops to catch his breath,
Keiichi cant help but feel useless, as he was
unable to protect Belldandy earlier. Just then, the
room fills with smoke, and from it emerges Shiho Sakakibara,
the exorcist girl who previously appeared in Chapter
57.
Shiho
is now under the control of the Mind-Force Field, and
has tied an unconscious Sora Hasegawa to a large pole
behind her. Shiho is disappointed that Keiichi is the
only one left, but attacks him anyway by summoning various
evil spirits to rush toward him. Keiichi opens the door
behind him to try to get away, only to be greeted by
the group of Belldandy imposters that he had escaped
from earlier. He tries to slam the door shut again,
but the fake Goddesses fling the door open again, entering
the room. The Belldandys are met immediately
by the evil spirits Shiho had summoned. The spirits
have a brief private conference with each other, remembering
that their Master said they would know Belldandy
by the mark on her forehead. Since all of the imposters
bear the mark on their heads, the spirits attack them.
The various fake Goddesses go running in terror, trampling
poor Shiho. With Shiho now unconscious, the spirits
disappear. Keiichi is alone, and sets about rescuing
Hasegawa.
Meanwhile,
Urd and Skuld have finally met with each other, after
having their individual fun beating up on their personal
tormentors (the Chemistry Lab students, and the Wrestling
and Video Game Club). The two Goddesses decide to head
off to find Belldandy and Keiichi, but they start to
head off in opposite directions to look for them. A
brief argument ensues over which way they should go.
They finally agree to go their own individual paths,
only to have both fall down trap doors. The Goddesses
agree on a truce, and that they should stick together.
At
that same moment, Hasegawa has finally come to, much
to Keiichis relief. He is at first nervous, since
he thinks Sora may be under the same mind control as
everyone else. However, Hasegawa shows him the ribbon
in her hair, stating she met up with Skuld earlier,
so she is not under Sayokos power. Just then,
Keiichi realizes that since Hasegawa was formerly one
of Queen Sayokos slaves, she must know her way
through the castle.
Hasegawa
leads Keiichi through the halls, telling him that Belldandy
is now being held captive. They then reach a part of
the building that is loaded with dangerous traps. Sora
shows Keiichi a complex series of jumps, leaps, and
motions that he must mimic in order to get through the
hall safely, and not trigger any of the traps. Not sure
what hes doing, Keiichi tries to mimic Hasegawas
movements, each time nearly springing one of the many
laser traps and trap doors. Through plain dumb luck,
Keiichi is able to make it to the end of the hall safely.
Meanwhile,
Sayoko is watching Keiichis progress on a TV monitor,
impressed that he has beaten every trap shes set
so far. Mara asks whats become of Belldandy, and
Sayoko states that she has been left with some of her
servants to play with, and that Mara can
visit her if she desires. Since Sayoko is too busy watching
Keiichi getting tortured, Mara leaves to find Belldandy.
It
turns out that Belldandy has been left in the care of
some men who want to create a full-body cast of Belldandy
(for their own personal and unsavory uses). They have
the sleeping Goddess laid out on an operating table,
and are preparing to begin the procedure. The men begin
to argue with each other over who gets to remove Belldandys
clothes so they can begin the process of making the
life size silicone model of the Goddess. Just then,
Mara enters and knocks them all out with a powerful
spell. Once they are out of the way, Mara leans over
Belldandy, stating that it is time for her to awaken.
A
short time later, Belldandy wakes up, and realizing
that she is alone, races off to find Keiichi. She is
certain she is walking into a trap, but will not let
any of Sayokos distractions stand in her way.
At that same moment, Keiichi and Hasegawa are beginning
a long climb up a seemingly endless stairway that apparently
leads to Sayokos main chamber.
