Megumi drops by the Morisato residence which means she wants something. It seems she found a lost puppy and wants Keiichi to take care of it since she can't have a dog in her apartment. Skuld sees the puppy and is immediately smitten by it. Much to everyone's surprise, Keiichi adamantly refuses to keep him, even if Belldandy asks. He does allow the puppy to stay until they can find a new home for him despite the fact that it keeps chomping on his clothes. Belldandy feels sure Keiichi will change is mind. In the meantime, Urd and Skuld become very attached over the puppy and argue over what its name should be. They both unsuccessfully try to convince Keiichi to change his mind.

The next morning, Belldandy wakes Keiichi up early to walk the dog with her. As they walk through the town, the puppy decides it wants to go a direction different from where Belldandy had purposed to go. Keiichi suggests they follow where the puppy leads. In doing so, they come to a scenic bluff overlooking part of the town. Belldandy is pleasantly surprised by this and her expression causes Keiichi to see her in a whole new light.

After this, Keiichi and Belldandy walk the puppy early every morning and explore the town they live in. Despite liking Assam, the name Belldandy has given the puppy, he still refuses to allow them to keep the dog. Before he can explain, Assam manages to snag the towel around Keiichi's neck and falls over the edge of the bridge they'd been standing on. In doing so, Assam falls into the water and causes Keiichi and Belldandy to rush to the rail while a cargo truck comes rushing across the narrow bridge. Belldandy rescues the drowned puppy and they rush him home. There, the vigil begins with Keiichi determined to stay up all night with the puppy. Urd wonders why he'd do this, but he has no answer.

As the hours pass, Bell keeps Keiichi company while he recalls the small dog he had as a little boy. He has a tearful confession to Belldandy about this. She passes some words of wisdom onto him and when the morning comes, the puppy is well. As the clan is happy over Keiichi's decision to allow the puppy to stay, Megumi rushes in having found the puppy's true owner. They return the puppy and come back to visit the dog from time-to-time.
