  Volume 6 Chapter 40 - Robot Wars

With the Lord or Terror gone, Belldandy restores their temple residence from the piles of rubble. She then returns the seal on her power since she is much too powerful unsealed. Skuld offers to repair Keiichi's bike since she was responsible for its destruction. He accepts the offer and soon Skuld is wheeling the like-new bike out, complete with upgrades. Megumi, who stopped by for a visit, checks out the new bike but sees flaws. Skuld is offended and immediately considers Megumi a rival.

A test ride by Keiichi proves Megumi right. Skuld whips out a Skuld Bomb, but is stopped when Belldandy takes it from her. Belldandy suggests they need a venue in order to compete properly. As if on cue, Tamiya and Otaki show up with just the thing in mind - a Robot War at Nekomi Tech. Megumi and Skuld would each build a robot for the competition. The goal would be to collect the most barrels but the robots could attack each other. Tamiya graciously offers to supply the materials for the robots - a large junkyard!

As the competition approaches, the Nekomi Tech campus divides into two camps, one for each of the contestants. The groups vocally shout their support for their girl - Megumi or Skuld. Behind the scenes, Tamiya and Otaki laid down odds on the girls helping to fuel the fires on campus.

The day of the contest arrives and the girls unveil their robots. Skuld's is named Hysteric Wheel Number One and spins like a top. Megumi's is named Pot-Shaker Dragon and looks like a large, modified forklift designed to grab barrels. As battle begins, Skuld's robot spins rapidly and begins destroying barrels. Megumi uses the barrel capturing device on her robot to capture Hysteric Wheel Number One. Tamiya is about to declare Megumi the winner, so Skuld activates the self-destruct on her robot, destroying both. The contest is determined to be a draw, but since Tamiya spent all of the betting money, the crowds drag him off for retribution.

Belldandy urges Skuld to shake hands with Megumi in friendship. After some pleasantries, Skuld shakes Megumi's hand, activates a buzzer which delivers a powerful shock to Megumi before taking off.

Despite the statement "in that instant Skuld realized that she had met the great rival in her life," the rivalry between the third goddess and Megumi is not explored again outside of this chapter. This chapter also shows Skuld's somewhat nasty habit of putting self-destruct devices in her inventions.
