OVERVIEW
|
|
| |
The
youngest of the three sister goddesses (Norns),
Skuld can basically be summed up in one
word: immature. Beyond being bratty and
temperamental, she tends to lack the emotional
maturity of the other goddesses, and consequently
a certain depth of character. Skuld is her
older sister's self-appointed guardian,
and is almost always successful in frustratrating
Keiichi's attempts to get close to Belldandy.
In contrast to the way she looks up to Bell,
Skuld does not get along well with Urd and
often quarrels with her. Skuld is much weaker
than the other goddesses in terms of power.
For a good part of the manga, she is unable
to use any power at all. To compensate for
this, Skuld uses her amazing mechanical
prowess to create a variety of machines.
It remains to be seen whether Skuld's recent
gains in power will be paralleled by a greater
emotional maturity.

ORIGIN
in NORSE MYTHOLOGY
|
|
| |
Skuld,
the youngest of the Norns
is the Norn
of the Future. She is shown as a young woman,
looking ahead (into the future). She is
usually veiled and holds an unopened book
or scroll which is rarely allows anyone
to read, indicating her reluctance to reveal
the future. Skuld was not considered
as benevolent, as she would tear and scatter
the cloth representing a man's life, thus
extinguishing it.
Unlike
the two older Norns,
Skuld has no alternative spellings.
It can be translated as "what shall
be" or "what shall come
to pass."
