The
only thing that comes close matching Belldandy's love
for Keiichi is her faith in his fidelity. She states
this several times, but nowhere was her faith more sorely
tested than during Shiho Sakikabara's debut in Chapter
57 (Fallen Angel). This chapter provides a sobering
reminder that Belldandy, even with all her character
strengths, is not perfect. She experiences emotions
any normal person would have such as anger and jealousy.
The fact that she reins in such emotions much more tightly
than anyone else doesn't mean that they don't exist.
It
is of interest to note that jealousy seems to be main
flaw that Belldandy was given, as it appears in both
the manga and Movie. Bell's jealously manifests in the
shattering of objects, the so-called "jealousy
storms." It is not deliberate but instead results
from jealously weakening Bell's seal on her power.
In
the case of anger, Belldandy has shown it only on the
rarest of occasions. Bell has an enormous amount of
tolerance and patience but even this can be stretched
thin. A good example is Urd's meddling in Chapter 47
(Lunchbox of Love) where she puts one of her love pills
in Sora Hasegawa's lunchbox.

Most
people tend to agree that Belldandy is naive, to one
extent or another. One reason is that she seems so innocent
to the ways of the world. Take in case the panels on
the bottom left (Chapter 60: Devil in Miss Urd arc)
but compare it with the next one (Chapter 68: Fourth
Goddess arc). Belldandy really isn't that clueless about
"worldy matters" as most people tend to think.
Another, more subtle reason is the way she views things.
Here's a few lines of dialogue from Chapter 44 (Queen
of Vengeance):
Urd:
It's so dumb -- if you used your powers, you could be
done in a couple a' minutes
Belldandy: Knitting is more than just making
something. You don't exactly need to
be thinking of some special person. Just...
the joys of the day, the moments of
sadness... and if thoughts of that special
person are in there too, then...your knitting
will overflow with love and warmth...understand?
Urd: It's beyond me, sis, that world you live
in. But still... that sweater looks
plenty warm

For
Belldandy, the simplest of things always have something
deeper. She retains what most people have lost as they
grew up, that is, the way of looking at the most mundane
of things with a sense of wonder. However, probably
the greatest reason for calling Bell naive is her amazing,
almost child-like faith in the goodness or kindness
of people. Belldandy seems to trust people so openly,
yet it would be a mistake to say she does so blindly.
In fact, she has demonstrated several times a strong
sense in perceiving a person's character, like
when she sensed insincerity in Hikari (Chapter 53, Ninja
Master arc). Belldandy decided to trust Hikari then,
acknowledging the responsibility for her choice:
Belldandy:
I want to believe that everyone has a dark side and
a side of light...I want to believe in the
light
Urd: I know How you feel Belldandy, your gentle
soul...but tell me if Keiichi gets hurt of
it, what then ?!
Belldandy: If..If it comes to that, then I'll
protect him...with my life!
